How to Install Car Magnets

Installing car magnets takes only a couple of minutes. Before using them, find the best spot where customers will see your advertisements. Car magnets are usually installed in two places:

• Side of the vehicle – Side placement makes it easy for customers to see your magnetic sign while your vehicle is parked on the street.
• Back of the vehicle – If your vehicle is on the move, back placement lets the drivers behind you to see your message.

Now it’s time to put the magnets in place. Here’s how to do it:

1. Before installing, place the magnet on a flat magnetic surface to flatten it.
2. Wipe the vehicle surface and back of the magnet with a wet cloth and detergent. Let dry.
3. Place one end of the magnet in the desired position. Line up the other edge of the magnet, making sure that it’s flat against the metal surface.

Note: Make sure that the vehicle surface is flat and rust-free. Avoid installing on surfaces where there are bumps and curves because these will prevent the magnet from sticking securely to your vehicle.

Extend the Life of Car Magnets

Magnetic car signs are durable, but with proper care, you can use these signs for as long as two (2) years.

When cleaning your vehicle, remove the magnet to clean debris from the vehicle surface. This will help extend the magnetic hold of the magnet and prevent any damage to the car sign.

If you will not be using the car magnets for a long period, store them flat and away from direct sunlight.

Can I put a magnet on a new paint job? Will it ruin my car exterior?

Magnets do not cause any paint damage when installed carefully. However, they do not always adhere well to fresh paint. To avoid scratches on your newly painted vehicle and ensure that the magnet stays on, we recommend waiting for the paint to cure or harden for 90 days.

Will the magnet stick to any type of vehicle?

Car magnets stick on almost all metals. When installing magnetic car signs, take note of its placement. Most car doors are made of metal, which is well-suited to magnets. However, some car doors contain only a small amount of metal and are not suitable for car magnets. Before placing an order, test if your car door is magnetic by attaching a small magnet to it.

But if you are going to mount it elsewhere on the vehicle, the magnet may not stick properly. Carbon fiber, plastic, and brass are not ideal for magnet placements.

Can I reapply the car magnet to another location?

Yes, car magnets are repositionable, so you can remove and stick them to the same or another vehicle. Just make sure to follow the proper way of cleaning and installing them.

How long will the magnets last?

With proper care, car magnets can last for two (2) years. It’s advisable to replace your magnetic car signs within this time span.

Can car magnets hold up in all kinds of weather?

Although car magnets are durable, the print on car magnets can fade faster when exposed to direct sunlight. It is not recommended to place your magnets on hot metal surfaces like the hood of your vehicle. Extremely cold weather can also make the magnets brittle. Make sure that the magnet is at room temperature when applying it on your vehicle.

Can I write on the car magnet?

Yes, the matte coating offers good writability. We suggest using a Sharpie and letting the ink dry a couple of minutes before handling to avoid smearing.
